| Disappointing. Went for a sandwich lunch over the weekend, and our salad wasn't properly washed - more than a peck of dirt present for 3 out of 5 of us. Also came with chips - 8 each! We raised both matters with staff (later diners had loads of chips), the first chap ignored us completely, the second brushed us off quite brusquely. | Four of us went for a meal here, the starters were fine although one of us had fish cakes which seamed all potato. Two of us had Beef Wellington which looked like a boiled piece of pork wrapped in hard left over pastry and tasted as bad as it looked. Two of us had fillet steaks which came butteflied and one was supposed to be rare which I sent back as it was well done and one was off (it tasted disgusting and really smelt). My friend has been ill all weekend. We did complain and they knocked £25 off the bill which still came to £80, a lot of money for a horrible meal and an embarassing evening out.[Report for Removal] | L Huntley York North Yorkshire |

| We were on a B&B holiday in Yorkshire. While passing thro' Welburn we saw the Crown & Cushion and decided that it looked rather a nice place to have our evening meal.First thing you notice is how clean the place is, next the choice of beers, real ale people would enjoy the place straight away.The food menu is realy good an excellent mix.It has an good restaurant area but I believe you can have meals at the bar. When our meal came it was piping hot and very well cooked.While we were paying the bill my wife mentioned that it is sometimes difficult to find decent meals because she is a coeliac and so many meals these days contain wheat gluten. Chris the landlord told her if she telephoned and told them of her problem, they would try to come up with a good meal which she could enjoy, so we booked a table for the following evening and just as he had promised not only did they do a superb main course for her the chef created a super pudding which did not contain boring icecream.If you are in the area give the Crown & Cushion a try we are sure you will be well satisfied.[Report for Removal] | Patricia & Duncan Spencer Letchworth Garden City Hertforshire |
