| My friend and I went to the newly refurbed Plough & Harrow last night and were pleasantly surprised. Having read poor reviews, we were almost disuaded from going, but having had a very nice meal, with good service from happy waiting staff, we were glad we tried it. We only had pasta dishes but they were excellent and the price was acceptable too. Just as good as The Cock Inn and the Barnt Green Inn from the same group. We will be back! | We were looking forward to eating here since the major refurb as we like the food and ambience of its sister pub The Cock Inn at Wishaw. We visited for Sunday lunch, the decor was very typical gastro pub style, the food was very mediocre, it was packed to the rafters and the the noise levels from screaming children was terrible. In fact I think we were the only table without toddlers using the pub. The mash potato was unseasoned and very bland, the haddock was full of bones and my poached egg was too undercooked for me to eat. Raw egg white doesn't get my taste buds going. | My family and I have been regular visitors to this pub over many previous years and it has been a favourite place of ours. It has been closed for a while for refurbishment and recently reopened. We visited on Sunday and could not believe our eyes as to how a lovely homely pub with a sense of tradition had been ruined. It has turned into what seems like a cross between a trendy wine bar and a cheap Scandanavian furniture store. We walked in and looked for a table for 5. There were a number of empty tables for 4 but were pounced on by a waiter who ushered me over to the manager. He spent some time pouring over a list until I told him we had not booked. He then said we would have to wait 15 minutes to be seated for food but could sit and have a drink in the meantime in the bar. The problem was there were no seats in the bar. We declined the offer of managers card should we want to book in the future and left feeling a part of pub history had been lost forever. | Being a regular diner at the Plough and Harrow I can't belive how much as changed in the last month. After some mixed experiences, last night was by far the best. | I was told up to a 45 minute wait for main course, after ten minutes starter came but then had to wait 1 hour and thirty minutes for main course without any explanation or free drink for waiting and the pub was only a third full.
