| I note that the previous review for this pub was some time ago SO if you haven't recently been then don't go! My husband and myself have Birthdays just prior to and just after Christmas and so booked a table here for a joint celebration. The new bar 'manager' is so awful - rude, inexperienced and totally incompetent. My husband's pint was pulled over and over again and my wine was a good substitute for cheap vinegar. The food was appalling, my steak was inedible and returned to the kitchen - that is, after a waitress asked if she should just take off the steak and leave me the remainder! By this time I was really annoyed, hungry and feeling quite ill from the 'wine'. Having been asked by the manager if I would like anything else - maybe another drink but this time on the house - I opted for a coffee whilst my husband finished his gammon and chips. The bill was presented to us for £27.50 and since the free drink I was offered did not seem to have been deducted, I suggested £25 would be more than enough to cover this shocking experience. This was accepted and I handed over my card and entered my pin in order to leave as soon as possible. In my distress, I had not checked the account until arriving home when I found the amount charged to be £27.50.
