| I wouldn't advise anybody go to this pub for a meal or any type of social event. My sister organised 3 weeks in advance a table for 14 people to celebrate my mam and dads golden wedding. On the night, the table was only set for 12, (even though the details had been confirmed that day), they only served LIME WITH FISH & CHIPS! as the 'waitress' (ie the manageress)said the Raby Arms doesn't serve anything with lemon, even coke!), there was no onion in the gravy & no cheese in the mash. The Hunters chicken was listed on the menu as a 'roast chicken breast in bbq sauce and was nothing of the sort,it was a fried chicken scallop. They had no paella, a pudding on the menu was no longer available. My 7 yr old son wanted peas with his fish fingers and was given beans. I had specifically stated peas to the waitress 3 times. We didnt complain as it was our parents evening, and we didnt want to spoil it, but I wrote a letter of complaint to 'mine hosts' RECORDED DELIVERY, at the end of July and it is now 6th SEPT & just as I expected, I havent even had the courtesy of a reply. I could go on and on but I have better things to do with my time,other than just advise people to stay away from this pub, unless you like food that you dont order and food that bears no resemblance to the description on their so-called menu. PLEASE PLEASE AVOID!! PS. I forgot to add that we were asked to be seated for 7pm, which all 14 of us were, to eat for 7.30. By 7.50 we still hadn't been approached by any staff. When someone eventually did approach the table (the manageress) she wanted to take our orders, even though all the meals had been pre-ordered 3 weeks before and confirmed that day TO HER! | What a waste of time. 4 of us walked in after a 2 hour journey all really hungry. We asked what type of soup was on, ordered 1 bowl of carrot soup a bowl of wedges a burger and a burger platter, nothing complicated. After a 45 minute wait even though the pub wasn't busy they came to tell us they'd made a mistake with the flavour of the soup. the only one now on offer was broccoli and stilton which we can't stand. we left the pub hungry with no apologies from them (still paid the full price for the 3 soft drinks and 1 glass of wine we'd had while we were waiting) and as it was 8.45 it was to late to order elsewhere so we ended up at the chippie. next time I'll just go back to the tall ships. it may not be such an extensive menu there but at least the food comes fairly quickly and we get good service. | It is a pleasant pub with great service in both beer and meals. Ok, - there are cheaper places in Hartlepool but the service is quick and the lamb tastes like lamb unlike a lot of prepacked frozen meals in other places.The pub is clean and tables are cleaned as soon as people leave them. | The prices are extortionate and the recent menu change is pretty poor, much like their food. After recently mentioning the poor quality of the food, the manageress was not in the slightest interested. For what they charge for their meals you could get cheaper at a decent restaurant.
