| The food is over priced and typical pub chain microwave food. With only 1 other table taken on the Friday before Christmas alarm bells should have rung! The drinks were also expensive and with only 2 other diners the service was very slow. The roast chicken was grey in colour and lacked vegetables - served with just a pot of boiled potatoes covered in cheese. The venison sausages were awful - solid - lacking texture and taste. The chicken burger lacked taste and one meal even came with a free piece of blue plastic! I would avoid this pub and this chain. A meal for six came to £135 after £5 was discounted for the plastic addition! The previous landlord has moved to another pub and provides 5 star food that is of the highest quality and so we continue to let people know about that and to avoid this pub. | This pub has improved since the new manager, Alec, has taken over. The place is now clean and friendly reception, helpful and cheerful staff. Good friendly staff, and althought the menu is standard Hall & Woodhouse, never had any complaints. | are we sure the last review was about the thatched tavern in maidencombe! my husband & i went there for an evening meal and the great atmosphere was felt as soon as we walked in the door. we were greeted with a warm welcome by what we are asuming to be the management/owners, and then shown to our table by a very smiley waitress, who throuout the evening was very polite and efficient. our food was scrummy. we enjoyed our evening so much that we booked into there holiday let for the night secluded at the back of their beutiful garden. paradise. will be booking it for next year. thank you thatched tavern for a wonderful time.[Report for Removal] | sarah stevenage herts |

| What a dreadful experience!!! Easter Monday, the sun was shining and people were out in their throngs. Queued for 30 mins to get served at the bar where one member of staff was working. We then had to wait 1 hour 5 minutes for meals to arrive!! Small children were by that time past hunger. The meals were then nothing short of thrown at us by a very stroppy waitress. On complaining the 'Manager' was summoned - who - with about as much idea of hospitality as Idi Amin - threw half an apology at us. Hot food cold by now (no cutlery brought to the table for a further 5 minutes) NEVER AGAIN until this management team, changes. | The meal was alful,we went there a year ago and it was exalent but this time all of my family were ill in the morning.It has changed hands and the atmoshure has also changed just DON'T GO THERE there waitress was just like Jade Goodie and the waiter had tatoos all the way up his arm with his sleeved rolled up and there was a cat goin in and out of the kitchen.So KEEP WELL CLEAR. | Me and my Husband went to the thatched tavern for a meal , and we really enjoyed are night the service was excellent the barmaid was smiling when we arrived and gave us a very warm welcoming , We really enjoyed are night the waitress was extremely nice she had a little conversation with us. the food was delicious . I am one that always finds it more enjoyable when/if the staff speak to me eg : ask me how my meal is , and if i am enjoying myself, and if im ok . If i do get asked if im enjoying my food i always leave a tip but if no-one asks then i just eat up and leave . but it is really enjoyable at the Thatched tavern, i will be returning again very shortly for another Fillet of Pork and raspberry brulee. The waitress's one had long dark hair about seventeen/eighteen a lovely young lady, and the other waitress had short brown hair a little bit older than the young one but very polite and welcomong too.
