| Having visited the Haymaker on occasions for many years, we were very shocked by the attitude of the manager this evening. My wife requested the prawn and advocado salad as a main meal instead of starter, not feeling particularly hungry, and was told it would not be a problem. Unfortunately it was a problem, as the advocado was very hard and not yet ripe. She informed the waitress very politely and was offered a discount after declining another salad (no other options were given or any apologies from the person who prepared it). The salad was charged at twice the starter price, making it over £10, which we probably would not have agreed to if known in advance (even with ripe advocado), after which a mere £2 discount was offered, as my wife had eaten all the prawns and they are 'very expensive'. My clear disappointment did not seem to make any difference, even after I protested at having spent a great deal of money there in the past, often taken our guests there and informed him (politely throughout) that his attitude was threatening my future custom... alas he stuck to his guns and like a true Englishman I paid up. So my review... good food most of the time, although prices are slightly inflated in general, but it seems that they care very little about their own reputation or retention of custom in the event of a complaint. Shame really.[Report for Removal] | A McDonagh Combe St Nicholas Somerset |
