Dropped in for a drink at lunch time on Sunday,6 March, 2011. Felt we were unwelcome as we were not dining. This was because the menu was very basic and unappitising. Only pleasing experience was the attitude and service of the barman. [Report for Removal] Les Culverwell

This is the first time in ages I've really enjoyed a pub meal. Bill thouroughly enjoyed his fish pie and the chef's veg lasagne was almost better then mine. We were on our way home to Devon and couldn't face a 'services' meal so came off the A303 and found you. The Inn was delightful and very busy for a Tuesday night and if we had had the time we would have stayed to sample the sweets. Now we know you are there we will be back for more on our trips to Surrey to visit family.[Report for Removal] Veronica and Bill Parry

We really enjoyed the food in the Swan Inn. We were travelling along the A303 and decided to look out for a country pub for lunch. We had an excellent meal and a beer and were relaxed and ready for the rest of our journey. [Report for Removal] Jim Murphy

We stayed here for some months during 2005/2006 as we were looking for a property to rent in the local area. Rarely would we eat in, as the food was poor - the vegetarian lasagne consisting of two sheets of pasta, with a layer of tomato concentrate and a few mushrooms - and usually served with chips. The room was rarely cleaned properly and towards the end of our stay was regularly double-booked. On one occasion, there was a private party with loud music until midnight. The following morning, no apology was offered. When I asked (and received) a reduction, was informed by the landlord that he could have sold that room for the full amount. The ensuite bathroom was left unfinished - manufacturer's stickers left on the basin, ill-fitting carpet. Despite having two computers with me, the landlord didn't think to mention they have wireless internet - I found out towards the end of our stay via one of the barmen. I agree with the previous poster that they don't deserve the custom - there are far better places out there.[Report for Removal] Adam Sothcott

Eating at the Swan Inn in August 2006 was a disappointing experience. The welcome was objectionably offhand: arriving en route from a channel crossing with three hungry kids, we were greeted only with the advice that we couldn't sit in the bar. Directed to the restaurant, we sat there a good ten minutes before it was evident we weren't going to get served unless we, yes, went back to the bar. Oh yes, said the barman who had turfed us out, the menu's here on the wall and you order food at the bar. Not that it was easy to get anywhere near the bar, with a small but noisy throng of locals all seated around it, leaving no space to actually stand and place an order. It felt like intruding on someone's private party. Others fared worse - two tables in the restaurant had visitors from overseas (one lot were French and the other Dutch) and both had been sitting unhappily waiting for any kind of service before we worked out there just wasn't going to be any. The food, eventually, was OK, but that is hardly the point. Here's a pub that doesn't deserve to do any better until it takes note of its customers.[Report for Removal] Copernicus
