| Casting aside the wait of 20 minutes at the bar (with only 3 other people waiting) and the appalling service the pub has obviously been refurbished and looks presentable which is the only plus I can see. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive I saw two people returning their food and the adjacent table being told “sorry we forgot to cook one of your meals so we shall quickly reheat one for you”. At this point I knew I was in for something special. The food we were served was of the lowest quality meat and produce I have experienced in any supermarket/pub/restaurant. My mixed grill comprised of a very very watery piece of chicken, gristly steak, fatty and watery gammon, watery sausage, grey (yes grey) over boiled peas and soggy chips. My partners half chicken faired no better with the same grey peas (surely out of a tin) and what tasted like packet mash potato?? I feel for the “chef” who has to try his best to work with such inferior foods. 500k spent on a refurbishment yet the Peacock opts to pound pinch over the food quality. A stomach turning disappointment leaving two plates of half eaten food on the table. Never again.[Report for Removal] | Kevin Crawley West Sussex |

| Stopped off there last night, from front looks an attractive roadside country pub. Made the mistake of entering the wrong door, as if we had entered the other we would have known there was 'Dodgy Dave Mobile Disco' set up in the small bar area not used for eating. Most of the inside is set aside for diners and so why then half way though our starter, we get really bad singing from a kareaoke machine sung by a young girl (later on seeing where noise coming from it was a a little 8 year old girl with her family) what she was doing in a pub at 9.30pm anyways! Now the dinners in a compleatly differant part of the pub had to listern to this racket at full volume - so much for conversation on the table! Odd as the singing got louder, more people started to leave - we did half way through main course! The starter was soup (tinned) yuk at the starter prices they charge (yes it is two mains for one) but it is the same type of food Weatherpoons do for still less money and the price goes high for starters and deserts. The drink choice was beyond a joke, all the bitters were off and so suggested we try a stout. NO! One barman serving, the back coolers were half full off WKP and just the usual Carling and Stella on tap. Please avoid at all costs particulaly on a Friday night - a family of chavs seemed to have a nice night watching their daughter sing (no one else in that area of the room) wonder why? while the rest of the pub had night ruined. Advice to the manager, drop Dave dodgy Disco, lose the kareoke and so you may lose one family and their soft drinks for the kids and instead spend the money saved by spending it on staff and stock. | Although the staff were friendly and helpful, the service and quality of this place leaves a lot to be desired. This was our second visit to the Peacock and not by choice either, on previous visit - a week earlier, we were supplied with food that was quite frankly inedable, on complaining to the Manager, he managed to pursuade us to return on another occaision for a free meal. A week later we did return and the service was even worse; there was one person behind the bar trying to take drinks and food orders, one person serving the food, and one person cooking it. The food, when we finally received it, was cold and even had a film over it, the salad was limp and warm, the portions small and chips were reheated. Although the food was reasonably priced, compared to other pubs, the drinks are horribly over priced. This will be the very last time we visit this pub and chain.[Report for Removal] | Sharon Crawley Sussex |

| one hour ten mins wait for our meal which left us with six mins to eat our meal and run to our appointments so just as well that one piece of steak was normal size and the other resembled a streaky piece of bacon so we could just share the one deacent meal. Carpets could also do with some attention to the shiney slug trails under the tables perhaps paying customers should be informed on arrival if the cook has poppedout for lunch.....[Report for Removal] | miss j parsons edenbridge kent |

| The food is good value, 2 for 1 meals, especially if you are taking the family and has quite a good basic menu. Not one to go to if you want to impress but great for quick service (generally) polite staff and value for money. One complaint really - the tables are often tacky to the touch despite being wiped down. I think they could do with a good clean on a regular basis.[Report for Removal] | Sarah Jones Oxted Surrey |
