| Memories are made of this. When I think of The Seal, in Selsey, I think of happy times and also sad times. I think of community, I think of belonging somewhere and I think of friends and the fun, support and love that they showed me. In short, I think of a place where life could be lived to the full. I miss this pub, the people and my life in Selsey. Sadly I shall never visit again (long story) but this place, this town and those people will always be remembered by me. | This is more than a pub. it is a community space, an oasis, a chapel. Call it what you like but residents and visitors, old and new, treasure the Seal. Selsey would not be the same without it. From those summer evenings relaxing with a drink and good company, on the benches at the front, to the winter nights around the bar to the parties, the Seal holds a place in many hearts - some still with us, some not and some that have moved on. | Without doubt the best pub/restaurant in Selsey! Spent most of last weekend either eating or drinking in there and the only word to describe the Seal is "superb"! Friendly and helpful staff, excellent cider(Thatchers Gold) and extremely good food. Having been a chef for 25 years, I am extremely fussy when eating out but could not find fault with anything we ate. Also very reasonable prices, a roast beef lunch, salmon with prawns and the most amazing sticky toffee pudding, all for 20quid! | I agree with Andrew. Very two faced people go in here. | We visit Selsey at least twice a year. We love the place. Selsey is such a backward and behind the times town (I mean that in a charming way). It is like visiting a small seaside resort but 15 years ago ! Unlike a lot of places it has largely remained the same (apart from new housing developments). The Seal is one place that we usually visit. It has a lovely bar with comfortable seating and generally a nice layout. The service is friendly and the place is obviously well run and cared for by the owner managers. In addition to the "Bar" there is also a really nice small to medium sized restaurant which we found to be most pleasant and cosy. The food more recently has improved a lot from our last visit and we are told that this is largely due to staffing changes in the kitchen. We were dissappointed early ;ast year when we went but more recently most impressed. Well worth the visit. | im sorry to say this but even though it is a nice looking pub, it seems more like a weatherspoons. Wrong kind of place for this type of venue. I started going there earlier in the year but soon stopped. its the people that make a good pub and here the staff arefriendly enough but the regulars are very two faced. they are like a crowd of vultures. one minute they are someones best freind and as soon as one person says something bad about them or passes round a piece of gossip then they all take an instant dislike to them. gossiping even more, adding to it and then exagerating etc etc. they seem to turn into a wild pack of vultures and all have a bite!!! ive seen people go from best friends to worst enemies literally overnight!! not my kind of place or people at all. if i do go it is only coz the wife likes the fish menu in the restauarant (food not bad as long as you get there before the chef gets too drunk!!)[Report for Removal] | Tom Glen East Witterings Sussex |

| As a local, and chairman of the local cricket club I can tell you this is a great venue. Staff and customers are very friendly. The quality of the food is good, The Cricket Club has held functions and I am happy to take my family there. The last report is an untrue reflection, this is a seaside town and in the summer we have lots of visitors and sometimes all the pubs in the town get crowded, I dare say the last reporter is a miserable guy. | I agree with those comments. This pub is very friendly. Gets a bit hot though. The comments about the community gelling together are so true. It was like being in another country. Absolutely no predjudice at all. It was great seeing people of all ages getting along and having a laugh. The other thing that surprised me was that there was a gay couple in there and they just fitted right in with everyone and actually seemed quite popular. A bit of a culture shock for me - but a nice one. One of the gay lads gave my wife some "fashion advice" - Ive been doing that for years but she never took any notice of me. | What a friendly place this is. I stayed with friends in Selsey for the weekend and we went to this pub. I was amazed at the friendly community atmosphere within this pub. It was a Friday night and very busy. The beer was nice and reasonably priced (I had a pint of Badgers)and the punters were very welcoming. What surprised me the most was how well so many different sectors of the community gelled together and were having a good time. There were older people mixing with younger people, straight people mixing with gay people and the staff getting along with evryone.
