A party of four of us booked two of the three rooms to stay in for two nights at the Ostrich Inn. It was recommended to us by a friend, however this favourable review did not, sadly for us, hold water (we still trust them!) At £70 a night we were expecting to be in the lap of luxury, however this turned out to be polar opposites to our actual experience. Milk was not left for the tea and coffee although some supplies had been left. We were able to get some from the pub downstairs, though. After a trip out for the afternoon, we returned to ready ourseves for our evening (we were performing in an amateur dramatics group that weekend), only to find that the rooms were still cold (there was no central heating running although there is heating installed) and when one of the party went to wash in the sink, the hot water would not come through. Upon going down to reception to complain, we were told that it was on, and that "they could find us somewhere else to stay if we wanted". We declined the offer, shocked as we were that the mnageress was unwilling to do anything about it quickly, although our friend was able to call on an old couple who lived opposite our venue, to put us up for the night (and what a saving on the £140 per room!) and we returned after our show but only to collect our belongings and have our deposits returned. This turned out to be the best thing we did that weekend, as there was a very loud disco taking place in the pub underneath our rooms. We also found out that they are now taking bookings for Ann Summers parties, so unless you're part of the group, I wouldn't bother booking those weekends to stay either!! We didn't try their food, and we didn't patronise the bar; we probably would have done if it wasn't for the fracas with our rooms, but I'm sure it's not as bad as the accommodation. As it is they lost £280 of our money and didn't seem too bothered about that! To sum up - if you're not joining the party, don't use the rooms...![Report for Removal] Gary Woodward
