| I never normally do this, however, last weeks DISGUSTING episode left us feeling so frustrated, I mean, HOW HARD IS IT to serve simple food, in a warm and clean environment? 1st of all, we spent a good ten minutes just trying to get a reasonably clean table to sit at - its a 'seat yourself' pub/restaurant. Having found an empty, if somewhat sticky table, we looked at the promising menu, a range ofsteaks, burgers, pasta, the usual pub fair, and reasonably priced too. We felt rather cold, but decided that 1 drink an a lunch would bring comfort. I went to the bar to make our order, and it took another age to get served as there was only 1 member of staff at the bar, who had to then change a barrel, who sighed and huffed and puffed as if I had asked for the earth! Our order finally submitted, I returned to the table to await our food. My husband pulled a face at his pint of stale guinness, and my lager was not much better - thank goodness the kids had a bottle of coke each! We had the bad look to be seated near the kitchen doors, and realized why our table had been unused! (there were only a few other people eating, but all of the empty tables were still waiting to be cleared.) - The 'chef' was balling his head off, banging and crashing, and the 'in - out' doors made a really terrible bang, I mean really loud, I have 4 kids, and am well used to noise, but this made you jump out of your skin every time the waitress went in or out! The chefs language was rather choice....and so was his singing, ah well, someone happy in their work. We watched as a couple nearby were delivered their food, only for the waitress to be instantly called back and get chastised by a clearly upset customer, her plate was freezing (just like the bar) and so was her food, the waitress took the plate and returned to the kitchen, where the chef did not take the news well at all, I don't know who made the angrier noise, him or the microwave, as it pinged after 30 seconds. The woman was not impressed to receive her cold food back, and got up to leave asking for a refund. Another man came in then, he appeared to be the manager, who was not happy about the refund, and they argued for several minutes. The couple left, I don't think they had any renumeration... Our food arrived, with a little dread, mine was a pie and chips...I did find one small piece of beef in the gravy - looked like pedigree chum though. My husbands steak was more like a lump of fat and gristle adorned with tiny scraps of overcooked meat (he'd asked for rare). The children were not impressed, you could see a skin formed on my sons meatball and spaghetti plate, and my other sons chips were freezing cold. The cutlery looked like it had been dipped in the sink and not rinsed, and the sticky able was never addressed. The menu promised a sizzling plate, (for my husbands steak) and the waitress even warned him that it was hot, well it wasnt. The scruffy manager then opened a double door and gave us all an icy blast, (he kept the door open for the remainder of our meal - IN FEBRUARY!) The one redeeming feature of this place was the young waitress who was polite friendly, and probably fed up, this whole nicely decorated, and well situated premises was let down by slovenly attitudes, a cold and unwelcoming atmosphere, and revolting food. I know it was cheap - but cheap does not have to mean awful! Sizzlers is the least appropriate name for this venue, it should be re-named - sloppy chilly's![Report for Removal] | E carroll luton beds |
