| I ate in the Flying Childers last week. The starter was an Indian combo to share which was very greasy, luke warm and pretty tasteless. The main course was a goats cheese and tomato ravioli which was, again fairly tasteless and had obviously been microwaved as the top of it and any exposed pasta was dry and burnt. This is not even the main problem, I was hungry and would have just written it off as a cheap, not very good meal. The thing that made me write this review was the treatment I got from the staff. I fully agree with the first review on this site, the staff must have had pretty specific training in how to completely avoid eye contact and ignore customers. The worst treatment I received was from someone who I presume to be the manager as he was not in uniform He was middle aged, had short dark hair and glasses. I was sold a glass of merlot which was quite clearly corked, it smelled and tasted very bad. When I asked him if I could send the wine back, as it was bad, he stared at me for a moment before making a face not dissimilpar to 'Kevin the teenager' and repeated back to me "SEND IT ...BACK?" as if I had just suggested that we sacrifice some smal children. When I replied, "Yes please I would like to send it back as this wine is corked and I am not going to drink it." he replied, "well you can send it back but you still have to pay for it." before stomping off in what I can only call a 'huff'. I was shocked that this is how they treat their customers and the way the manager reacted when I told him about the bad wine makes me think that it is usual policy to serve bad food and bad wine and give no refunds for any reason. I assume that because they offer a two for one deal on the main courses that they feel they are allowed to serve up whatever crap they feel like. Luckily I have been to lots of other places in Melton so I know that this is not just the way people are in Melton, but as a Londoner, had I been to the Flying Childers before exploring anywhere else, it would have given me a very bad impression of Melton on the whole.[Report for Removal] | Hayley Finchley London |

| This is a great pub to spend your time in, well you obviously need time to get served, as the staff are unbelievably well trained at ignoring customers. The food is also inedible, being both overcooked and cold! An unbelievable combination given the obvious reliance on microwave technology. Do I need to mention the beer? No that would be too catty....[Report for Removal] | Graham Murdoch Melton Mowbray Leics |

| on entering the pub the procedure is to find a table and sit down and a member of staff will come to your table and take a drinks order. After 20 minutes we were still sat there the staff were completely aware we were there but just carried on chatting. To top it all off the manager walked past about five times and then a family who had just walked in and sat down were served and we were still ignored!!!It was awful service!!!![Report for Removal] | clare doubleday melton mowbray leicestershire |
