| I would just like to say I have recently visited the Golden Grove in Chertsey and had a most wonderful time. The food was exceptional and prompt. The staff were incredibly pleasant and a good laugh. I have also recently noticed in the Surrey Herald and indeed in the pub itself that they are having a "Who" tribute band night soon. I found this fascinating as Keith Moon (from the Who) was a regular in that very pub! I think it is refreshing to see a pub keep its heritage. I am soon becoming a regular! | Had a fantastic bank holiday Monday (despite the weather) at the Grove, you can really tell that they have very recently spent money trying to attract families. The garden is very large and includes an exceptional childrens play area complete with slides, swings and assult course. They had a hog roast for food which made a great change and a free bouncy castle. All in all we had a great day.[Report for Removal] | Diana Cole Chertsey Surrey |

| Well what can I say ? having been to the Golden Grove for a 2nd time today and it was absolutely terrible. Our 1st visit back in April was really good, we spent the afternoon in the lovely garden and had fabulous food. Fresh baguettes and delicious salads. Therefore we were looking forward to returning. Being a Sunday there was a reduced menu which is fine although the vegetarian option was down as salmon which is fish, not vegetarian ! My husband and I ordered roasts and opted for vegetarian bites and sausage and mash for our 2 children. When the roasts arrived the 2 plates just looked like brown sludge. We has a lamb and beef which would have been difficult to have identified had it not been for the yorkshire pudding on one plate and indeed the lady who bought the plates out clearly thought they were the same and said ''two beef' ? The roast and new potatoes had both been clearly in the deep fat fryer and were overdone and burnt (fried new potatoes ??) as were the roast parsnips. The carrots were soggy and overcooked and there was a mound of unappetising red (more washed out pink) cabbage. It was all slopped in a over zealous portion of gravy. My daughter's vegetarian bites were clearly a veggie burger cut up (fried) and a piece of very greasy fried bread branded as 'croutons' on the menu. All in all a awful experience, not helped by the 2 miserable staff behind the bar. A totally unpleasant visit not worth the journey. I would think twice about visiting again.
