| Visited the Shipwreck 23/05/09. Although restaurant very busy, plenty of staff and very good service, the rollmops were to die for, whitebate also very good. Steak cooked just the way we asked for it, and they were more than happy that I had 2 starters instead of main course. | On 22 August 7 of us sailed to Shotley and went to eat at The Shipwreck. I ordered steak and was really looking forward to it. First bite not only smelt but tasted very odd. Checked what the others thought and the general concensus was that it was off. Sent it back and was met with hostile arguments from front of house and then the chef/manager refusing to give ud our money back (paid up front) or to cook anything else at all. Really appalling - will never eat there again - ensuring the rest of our sailing club knows and friends from the sailing fraternity.
