| I go to the Admiral's Head quite regularly. The beer is kept very well, and the staff pleasant. No recent experience of the food, but the menu is varied and seasonal. | We have visited the pub for several meals over the past few months, we found the staff very friendly and the food wonderful. The menu had a good choice and the specials board is always varied with fish and seasonal choices too. The menu seems to change on a regular basis and always has a good choice of authentic Italian dishes. The desert menu is too good to miss and the chocolate soup is to die for! | This pub looked very promising for Sunday lunch, but the service was very slow. When our Sunday roast did arrive there were no vegetables as there had been a power cut in the kitchen so these were not cooked at the same time as the meat and potatoes. By the time the vegetables were cooked, the rest of the dinner was cold. The Chef did apologise and although we understand that the power cut is not the Chef's fault, neither is it ours and we shouldn't have to pay full price for a meal served without vegetables. However, when we informed the Landlord that we did not feel we should pay full price for the meal because the veg arrived so much later than the meat, he was defensive and asked if we expected to eat Sunday dinner for free! We said "no, but a 50% reduction would be fair." He stomped off to the bar, returned and slammed a £10 note on the table (less than 50%!) and walked off. His customer service was terrible and we shall most certainly not be dining there again which is a shame because the restaurant's decor and setting is very pleasing. Additionally, I shall not be recommending this pub to anyone; in fact, I shall tell people to avoid it. This Landlord needs to learn some customer service skills fast!
