| We go to the Swan's Nest regularly for Sunday lunch and have never been disappointed. As an extended family with several small children it is great to find a relaxed pub where the kids can have fun and the adults can enjoy the food :) The carvery and salad buffets are always of a good standard and the hospitality friendly.[Report for Removal] | I Lang Exeter Devon |

| Having been someone who used this pub regularly for meals about 10 years ago we were very disappointed with our last visit to the Swans Nest as we were travelling to and from cornwall, and decided on past reputation to visit this establishment en route back to Gloucester. The food that we were allowed to purchase was good but we were restricted to the carvery. We arrived as a party of 6 adults 15 mins before restaurant closing time and when ordering our food were informed that the grills had been switched off early thus restricting us to the salad bars or carvery, one member of our party wanted a mixed grill and on being told he could not have this he returned to the table to choose something else from the menu whilst the rest of our party selected their carvery meals. On his return to the food bar he ordered scampi and chips to then be told that as the grills had been turned off they decided to switch off the fryers. A request was made to speak to the head chef/manager whose attitude when asked very politely if something as simple as scampi and chips could be cooked was one of tough luck, I have just switched off the fryers and they would'nt be switched back on because it meant firing up the gas again. This was a poor attitude to take as we were polite and were spending good money, and if the fryers had just been switched off then they would have still been hot and would have taken a few minutes to heat up. As a result of the poor service one member of our party did not eat, which is sad as we would not recommend The Swans Nest to others travelling to the south west looking for a good place to stop for a rest and refreshments on their journey.
