| I found this purely by accident when I was in Devon on business a good 10 years ago and I take every opportunity to go there whenever I can. Its very difficult to find fault with the place. The pub itself is small and can get crowded on high days and holidays but get there early and you can be sure of a seat, a convivial atmosphere and absolute splendid beers and a highly potent cider or two. The restaurant is deservedly popular with an excellent unfussy menu, fantastic portions and a great selection of wines. Jamie and Pippa are exceptional hosts and their bar staff are unfailingly pleasant and efficient. They all contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere that permeates the place and keeps both locals and visitors like me coming back for more. To cap it all, you can do B&B for very reasonable rates and stay in the beautiful thatched pub itself, or in the cottages directly opposite. Don't expect the Ritz, but do expect comfy beds and baths big enough to sink the Titanic. One of my most favourite places in England.[Report for Removal] | The Lipsiot Guildford Surrey |

| All village pubs should be like this.Was voted Englands best loved pub by the mail on sunday readers,but dont let that put you off.Its not posh & the food is all fresh & affordable.You may need a sat-nav to find this pub but it will be well worth it.[Report for Removal] | martin bere ferrers devon |
