| This is another pub on the fringe of Enfield in a hamlet called Botany Bay - yes it was the stopping point for the convicts off to the London Docks for transportation. Glad to say no sign of any convicts in the pub which has two restaurant seating areas either side of the main bar and saloon area. Nice McMullen real ales (although sadly are not drunk in much volume anymore according to the friendly bar staff). Very good seating area with recessed leather sofas and quality tables. A fireplace which seems to be genuinely lit with logs in the winter (according to the smoked brickwork above the fire place!) Worth coming here with the other half or indeed mother in law as it passes the good food and good beer test. Does suffer from the boorish Range Rover Enfield set and there seemed to be an unusual degree of secretive canoodling going on on a couple of the leather sofas. However, if you can put up with the overbearing middle class and the affairs of the heart brigade then this one is well worth a shout. You will need a car though as the walk here is a very isolated one and the bus service is reasonably poor. [Report for Removal] | matthew enfield middlesex |
