| Super old pub with great beer at very reasonable prices but feel that the dark atmosphere is a bit of a mask. The bedrooms are very compact which is expected of a very old building but needs some TLC in certain areas. Bath panel very tatty and several cracks, peeling paint on radiators. rear of sink a veritable nightmare, windows very mouldy but bedding very fresh,crisp and clean. The food is not very imaginative but will suit many if the basic--basic is all one likes, and very reasonably priced. (Not too keen on the flies in the dining room--could do with some form of UV insect trap). Corn Flakes are fine but is that all that is available in the area and boy, could I do with a fresh fruit juice in the morning after all that lovely ale!! Rooms are competitively priced and a very relaxed and casual atmosphere pervades--no airs and graces here or jumped up hotel receptionists. Great walking from the door and good pubs en route.
