| We visited this pub for a family party and were very impressed. The decor was lovely and the pub clean and modern. The food was first class. I had rib-eye steak and it was cooked exactly as I had requested. The other members of the party were also very pleased with the quality, presentation and quantity of food served. The staff were on the whole very helpful and attentive. I have 2 minor criticisms. 1 - we had to wait a while to order our first round of drinks. I asked twice for someone to take our order. But after this the staff provided first class service. 2 - The child's menu was pretty poor. Although there was something our young lady liked, there wasn't a specific child's menu. The other final point to make was on price, very favourable, very well priced. Overall I would definately recommend this pub. . I will be going back on my next visit to Derbyshire. | We have been to Denby Lodge on several occassions, both lunchtime and evening and have received excellent food and service at all times. We booked for Xmas day lunch, which was slightly disappointing - it was a lot of money for a pretty average dinner and my treacle tart was awful. Maybe it had something to do with having a fixed menu, I don't know! This little hiccup won't put us of though, and we will return to eat again. The fact that a table has to be booked two weeks in advance for Saturday nights should be a positive sign that this is indeed a popular restaurant that normally dishes up excellent food and Sally (the wife of the the husband and wife team) and her staff have always been really pleasant and eager to ensure a top quality service. No complaints here at all.[Report for Removal] | Adele Baker South Normanton Derbyshire |

| My husband took me to Denby Lodge for our wedding anniversary in October this year. We were greeted as we went in and promptly shown to our table. The steaks were done as we had asked, and the service first glass. We went on our daughters recommendation and our Granddaughter went in November and was highly satisfied. We will certainly be going again. Thanks to all concerned.[Report for Removal] | S. Woolis Newthorpe Notts |

| We bookeda table to celebrate my wife's birthday on 11th August 2009 and were seated at 8.02 p.m. At 8.20 I went to the desk to let them know that after nearly 20 minutes nobody had taken our order. We were told that a waiter would be there straightaway. At 8.25 our order was taken but not served until 8.55 and at 9.00 they delivered the side order! My steak was a T Bone which is supposed to be half fillet and half sirloin. Well the fillet was virtually non-existent with only two very small pieces. It was almost as if the fillet had been cut off. The remaining sirloin was chewy and grissley and I filled the side order bowl with the bits that could not be eaten. The tomatoes were not cooked and they went in the bowl too. To be fair my wife said that her Ribeye was nice and because I was not eating much of my steak she gave me a big piece of hers and it was much better than my T-bone. We decided to cut our losses and leave. I completed the 'Comments Card' and on paying advised them that everything was far from being OK. I told them about the time - nearly an hour to wait to get food on our table - and about the poor quality T-Bone which was undoubtedly the worst that I had ever had. The young lad on the till looked a bit bewildered and asked if I had eaten most of it!!! He muttered something about a reduction and I said that this was not the point. I handed the card to him and said rather than just putting it into a big jar (ironically to win Free Meal for two) it should be read by someone in authority as the problems were so serious in our opinion. He assured me that all cards are read by his boss before being sent to head office. Well I expected to hear something back from them (they had my e-mail and Phone No) and after a week we have heard nothing. Will we be going back? No chance. Will we tell friends of our bad experience? Absolutely[Report for Removal] | David Gribbin Ripley Derbyshire |

| i recently dined at denby lodge where the food served was nice enough but the service and the cleanliness left something to be desired, the table i sat at had decorative grooves around 3 inches from the edge of the table which were filled with black filth and the whole table felt greasy - not very pleasant also the waiting staff stood at the end of the table of 10 and asked customers to pass food down to each other! the same applied when collecting the dishes, i was half expecting to be told to get up and wash the pots!perhaps the staff need a little more training and attention to detail. dave ripley [Report for Removal] | c huntley ripley derbyshire |

| The Denby Lodge seems to have new owners. There is an excellent home made menu served at lunchtime and evening. The steak was fantastic and from a local butcher too. Also had Nottingham Brewery cask ales on. Definitely one to recommend.[Report for Removal] | Andrew Crawford Nottingham Notts |

| I visited Denby Lodge with my family on Fathers day. My daughter has a 3 month old baby who was in a buggy. The first encounter with the staff was, ‘where do you think you are going with that!, (the buggy). They finally agreed to let us in. We seated ourselves and 5 minutes later had a number of menus literally thrown at us! We made our choices and the waitress took the order. Some 30 minutes later, we were presented with our second course, (no sign of the starters!). After explaining that we had not received our starters there was no apology..nothing. Another 5 minutes wait before we finally received them. The food was ok and reasonably priced, however the attitude I would put on a minus scale. I prefer to eat in a calm relaxed atmosphere. Denby Lodge appeared to not want you there in the first place! One to avoid if you can. I certainly will be in future![Report for Removal] | Graham Phillips Kilburn Derbyshire |
