| myself and my partner have been regular diners at the White Lion, Allesley, Coventry for well over 5 years and have always been happy with the good food and cheery staff and have introduced friends and family to the pub also. However, i have to say that we will be making a point of not going there any longer. A couple of days before Christmas 2007 we went in for dinner and both ordered the lamb shank. When it arrived both joints of meat were chilled in the centre near the bone. When we reported this to the manager(Jayne Taylor) her response was that this was due to it being very busy over the festive season that perhaps the meat had not been defrosted properly before cooking! We were willing to let it go on this occasion as we had never had a problem previously. This evening we went there again, and my partner ordered the lamb shank again, assuming that the same thing would surely not happen again. Yet again, when it arrived the meat was chilled in the centre, we asked to speak to the manager. We were then joined by the manager, Jayne Taylor again. This time she seemed very abrupt in her response. We calmly explained that this was the 2nd time this has happend. She treid to give an excuse that the joint of meat is large and there is a risk it would noy be heated through properly. If this was the case it should not be on the menu. She continued to speak over my partner when he was trying to talk to her, and her final comment was ' well i'll get it taken off your bill then shall i.' This 'manager' has no idea of how to defuse a bad situation when the customer is upset with service, infact she does a good job of making the stuation worse, and clearly knows nothing about running a thorough high standard in a restaurant, front of house, or kitchen.
