| My wife and I moved to the area from Essex two years ago and no establishment has made us more welcome than the Boar's Head. The food and service has ALWAYS been 1st class. So much so that when any of our friends and family visit us the Boar's Head is the only place to take them for a meal, in our opinion. And they've all fallen in love with the place. Even if it's just my wife and myself going for a meal for a birthday or special occasion, if the staff find out then a complimentary drink is sent to the table. The food is sourced locally and is of top quality. The ales change regularly and are well kept and all the staff, without exception, have always been friendly and courteous. | I was shocked by the last 2 comments are you sure they were in the right pub. for 6 years now i have been going in there with my family and have never seen any signs of rudeness from the owners. the staff are always friendly and helpful and the food and drink are always varied. | I have to agree with Stephen's review below. I also had a run-in with the management staff; I won't disclose the details but I was also treated very unfairly and spoken to extremely rudely. It seems the management here have no regard for what people might say about their establishment, which is - if I'm honest - claustrophobic and pokey, serving frequently substandard ales and food that I can only describe as unfathomably bland and unimaginative. | I recently went on a walk that finished at the Boars Head. My group were forced, due to the presence of well behaved labrador, to sit in the rain in the beer garden. We bought our drinks and sat outside. I discretely took a sandwich from my pack, but before I could finish it I was rudely asked to put it away by one of the staff. I had done so when a second woman appeared from the pub and started shouting in a threatening and uncontrollable manner.
