| We booked a table for a family celebration 1 week in advance. Initially booked for 14, but phoned the same evening to amend numbers to 10. Our table was booked for 20:30 on 23/07/2011. We arrived at 20:20, our booking was still on the list as 14, but they were relieved when there was only 9 of us. Our table wasn't ready but we were told it would only be a few minutes to prepare which was fine as we were a little early. We ordered drinks and waited to be told our table was ready (which didn't happen). The table was in a room away from main dining, so when we could see it was ready we went and sat down. we all decided what we wanted to eat, someone came to take our order at about 20:50 and also took a further drinks order of 3 drinks; 15mins later the drinks arrived. At 21:25 I went to enquire where our food order was. There was someone else in front of me asking the same question. I was informed that it was just being 'plated up' When a further 20 mins had passed (21:45)and still no food we decided to cancel our order as we had children in the party and felt that the situation was ridiculous. As we were sorting out the bill, some of the food began to arrive (21:50), but by this time, the children were in the car and on the way home. I feel that the service was apalling, there were no explanations and it seemed as if we had been forgotten about in the back room. However, others also seemed to be in the same situation as us. If a table is booked I really would expect to be eating within half an hour not almost an hour and half. A family celebration was ruined and staff seemed aghast that we had decided to leave.
