| Went there on Saturday with some friends. Service was poor. They brought our soup but no soup spoons. When I asked the waiter for some he proceeded to go to another table and take their order first. By the time we had spoons the soup was luke warm so sent it back to be reheated. Waited about 10 minutes for this to happen. I ordered my chicken plain because I didn't like the sauce - the waitress asked if I would like salad to which I agreed. When it came it was a large plate with a plain chicken breast and a very small garnish consisting of two lettuce leaves and a few chopped onions. We asked to speak to the owner at the end of the meal as I felt the price of £14.95 for my chicken was a rip off - having to pay the same price as the meal with the sauce. What a rude aggressive man! Accused us of being an awkward table, wouldn't let us get a word in edgeways, quite abusive and told us never to go to his restaurant again. Well, he hasn't got a problem there! | What a little gem. Its ages since we've been to the Red Lion, Pendoylan and we are now asking ourselves why. Went for lunch yesterday to celebrate a birthday and although the pub was quiet, about 14 people there including our party of four, the service and atmosphere was excellent. The menu was reasonably priced and all of our party had different selections and the food was superb from starters through to desserts. | I would like to point out that the following business promoted by yourselves continually rips off suppliers by refusing to pay for perfectly good work or supplies and when they do eventually pay it can take over a year to receive payment. The restaurant in question is: - The Red Lion Gastropub Location: Pendoylan, South Glamorgan, CF71 7UJ [map] Phone: 0845 200 8752 Open: Tues-Sat noon-2-30pm, 6pm-9.30pm; Sun noon-3pm E-mail: redlion2@hotmail.co.uk I thought as your reputation relies on that of the businesses you promote that this may interest you. The first time we carried out emergency work to their cold room it took approx 13 months to get paid after repeated phone calls and letters. Then after the owner requested our services again, we attended within the hour fixed his display counter and left site. He refused to pay the bill saying he was going to send a letter of complaint saying our boys just stood around. As a gesture of good will we credited him with some of the costs but have seen neither payment nor the letter of complaint he said was in the post. | After three visits it cannot be a fluke. The Red Lion is the Jewel in the Vale Of Glamorgan.My wife and i first tried it out last year for a quiet mid week evening meal we were pleasantly surprised with the standard of the food presented to us.We visited for a second time two weeks ago on a friday evening in the company of six friends to celebrate a birthday.The variety of food presented was enjoyed by all of us.Our third visit was last saturday accompanied by my daughter and son in law (who is a very good home chef who enjoys preparing and cooking a variety of meals to a very high standard,whenever we visit) We are all agreed that the Red Lion is certainly going to make a name for itslf based on the friendy welcome,staff attitude and sevice,but above all the high quality of the food being presented. my advise is try it out soon before it becomes too difficult to book a table,this a a place that will surely equal any michelin star restaurant.
