| Very poor pub. Paid this pub a visit at 8PM on a Saturday and it had the grand total of two people present! The woman behind the bar was very rude – she acted like it was too much effort to serve me; and called me “a cheapskate” for buying lager! Also; Later attempted to use the fruit machine, and I made the cardinal sin of putting my pint on the wood part of the pool table. A word of advice – only do this if you want to hear a lecture about how expensive and easily stained pool tables are off the landlady. The lager had a slightly odd taste to it. Hard to put my finger on it, but the best description I can give is that it has a metallic taste. The jukebox had every track I could think of; but it is very expensive – a pound a track! Compared to the nearby pubs the Royal Oak has by far and away the most expensive prices, so make sure you visit the cashpoint first. One last point of amusement – there was some kid behind the bar that started to play with a laser pointer as I was putting my coat on. He seemed to find it funny to dazzle people with it! This pub is not all bad – it was clean, and had modern decor and furniture throughout. The toilets are very clean as well (although the wash basin taps in the gents did not work). However, the chandeliers used for lighting are far too bright – I had to leave after two pints as they were giving me a headache.
