| My husband and I popped in for a meal to relax us after a hard days work. We came out of there more wound up than when we went in. Drinks order taken and at the same time we were asked if we were ready to order. We hadnt even looked at the menu. Starter of shared platter was over cooked with hardly any sauce. We had both asked for burgers with bacon and blue cheese and mushroom sauce. I asked for mine without lettuce. We had no bacon, there was lettuce in my burger and, although the cips were hot, the burger was cold. We decided not to go for a dessert. I know its being refurbished and taken over...again! but they could still provide a service in the meantime. Im sorry to say the waiter did NOT get a tip.[Report for Removal] | Caz Abrahams Bristol Avon |

| We went to Mason Arms as a group of 10 visiting from Northern Ireland only to find the service very slow. Firstly it took half an hour for any staff to approach us, on ordering the food we were informed that they had ran out of 5 of our first choices it then took an hour and ten minutes for our starters to arrive which 7 out of 10 were cold. For our main course 4 out of 10 had to reorder due to shortages, one of our group having to order 3 times. On arrival after another hour and a half wait all food was cold again! Plus the presentation was extremely poor. And the straw that broke the camel's back was the human hair that was in the pie! Although there was a full refund given it spoilt what should have been a lovely Sunday meal. No commensation is good enough![Report for Removal] | Andrea McCalmont & Julie Cameron Belfast Antrim |

| Having been to The Masons Arms on several occasions now (since the new manager has taken over) I can only say what a fantastic time I've had. The food is presented well and full of flavour. It may be part of a chain but I have managed to have food changed if there is something I don't like. The staff are very accomodating and are polite and well turned out. I can only assume from reading other reports that the new manageress - Emily has turned it around. Strongly recommend the food [Report for Removal] | Tracie Peacock-Quinney Leamington Spa Warwickshire |

| As a customer of 10 years I had great expectations when the pub was refurbished this year but nothing has improved. The service is slower, the chefs (or microwave operators, let's not be harsh to proper chefs) still have this inability to produce the food to the specification ordered and in a reasonable time, the staff seem to stand around and chat when there is work to be done. This includes the "chefs" during service.. why aren't they in the kitchen cooking? I know that when part of a chain, to a certain extent, the landlord's hands are tied but the food is appalling, the prices are ridiculous for what you actually get on the plate and the choice of food is woeful when compared to other pubs in the area who's food is probably still mostly pre-packed but is far better presented on the plate. The staff (aside from one or two faces) don't look like they even want to work there any more. Going back a few years, the pub was a friendly nice local pub with some great characters who worked there - Gill, Martyn, Hutch, Kes, Emma, Loretta etc who were always friendly, fun, helpful and willing to go that extra mile for the customer. The staff seem to change every month now, never bother to "get to know" the customers and certainly are not as mature and friendly as the old guard. The pub is a lot tidier now but just doesn't have the atmosphere that it used to. Other pubs just a quick walk away offer better, cheaper food, nicer staff and a better atmosphere. Avoid at all costs. Oh and what's happened to the quiz? The only ray of light entertainment whose quiz master was a great chap! Come on, stop alienating your customers![Report for Removal] | Colin Thornbury S Glos |

| Six of us went to the Masons Arms today for a birthday meal and it was the worst experience of eating out that we have ever had. To begin with, the food took 1 hour and 15 minutes to come despite 2 complaints in this time. When the food did arrive, it was only 3 of the 6 dishes - we were then informed that one dish was not available (Fin Sole), that there was no pineapple to go with the Gammon, and the Prawn Risotto didn't turn up at all. Eventually 2 of the missing dishes arrived, but still no Risotto... One of us had SunBlush Linguini and under the cheese was a price label. The sauce which came with the Salmon dish was completely curdled. There were about 14 chips with another fish dish, and a side order of chips barely filled a small bowl. The garlic ciabatta was completely rock hard. The Prawn Risotto STILL had not arrived after everyone else had finished their meals. We were then told it would be 4 minutes, so we timed it, and it was actually 34 minutes before it arrived. Then the prawns were horrendously overcooked. As compensation they gave us our drinks and meals for free, and gave us two bottles of champgane.. but it hardly makes up for it really as it was a birthday meal ruined. I actually enjoyed my Fish and chips when it finally arrived, but everyone else was extemely disappointed with theirs. We weren't the only ones getting abysmal service though, atleast 2 couples and a large group left in a foul mood after waiting for longer than an hour and thirty minutes for their meals.. We were hoping for a lot more after the redevelopment, but all that seems to have happened is them getting some fancy new chairs and some extremely poor staff.[Report for Removal] | Jess Thornbury South Glos |
