| Saturday 31st.January. table pre- booked for 7.30pm. Party of 2 gentle men and two ladies. We sat at our table approx. 7.45 and ordered the meal.It was just after '9.00pm' when it was brought to our table. ( other diners also had experienced long delays) The ladies ordered haddock,which was very dry and taste less, in fact it looked like and tasted like blotting paper. My friend ordered the steak and ale pie( I ordered the same but was informed that only one was available) His pie turned out to be almost as tasteless as the fish,I in fact had a small taste myself, and yes, it was very bland. I had ordered the venison with a winter berry sauce, as a second choice. The meat was tough and very fatty, and the taste was completely over shadowed by the very strong sauce, I think it was black current, or similar. Being English, we only made a token complaint, and were only charged for three of the meals. I will say that the staff were very good, and the surroundings were what one would expect from a country pub, but I'm afraid that the food was a complete let down, and after driving from Bristol, the whole evening was a complete disaster.
