The Crown Inn
A very warm country welcome awaits you at the Crown Inn. It is furnished to a very high standard throughout, reflecting the classic country style of North Dorset. We pay great attention to detail and make every effort to provide you with the ideal environment for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Guests should note that all our bedrooms are non-smoking. Fontmell Magna is a delightful village set at the foot of Fontmell Down in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is four miles from the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury, known for its steeply cobbled Gold Hill, made famous in the hovis advertisment. It is an ideal place from where to explore North Dorset and afords many opportunities for walking.
The Crown Inn used to be part of the Flowers Brewery of Fontmell, the inventors of the famous Crown Bottle Cap, still used on beer bottles today. Whilst The Crown Inn remains a successful local hostelry, the brewery ceased to function at the turn of the century. The inn is ideally sitauted on the A350, within easy reach of the Dorset Coast and the Cross Channel Ferries, or as a break for a journey to the West Country
The full menus are available online please look at the menu pages.
The Crown Inn has a Large Car Park and Beer Garden, although due to the proximity of the A350 it is not suitable for children. There is plenty of seating and parking for 20 cars.
