The Eagle Tavern, Oxford, Oxfordshire, dispenses Real Ales.
The Eagle Tavern entered a new era in April 1999 when Arkell's scored a hat-trick with its third pub in Oxford. Regular customers will have been pleased to have seen an extensive refurbishment before the Eagle re-opened its doors as a fully-fledged member of the Arkell's family. But they will also have been relieved to see that the traditional local pub they knew and loved was still there to enjoy. Standing close to the city centre, The Eagle has served the population of Oxford for generations. The present building replaced an earlier Inn on the same site which was almost certainly originally called the Robin Hood but changed it's name in 1871. Typically English in every way, it would have been a great shame if it had been turned into another theme or music pub. Instead, Arkell's have breathed new life into the old pub. Customers will undoubtedly appreciate the upgraded facilities and feel more comfortable in the new bar. And they will be afforded a warm welcome from the new licencees. Locally born Tom and Margaret Quinn bring a wealth of valuable experience to the Eagle Tavern - ensuring that this little gem goes from strength to strength.
