The Talbot is a lot of different pubs all in one - large but cosy, quirky but comfortable, grand on the outside but homely on the inside. The bar is at the centre of the building and most visitors head for the plush split-level lounge with its beams and arches, where old church pews make up part of the seating. Diners are well catered for to the point of being spoiled by the wide selection of home-cooked food which is available and some visitors will be glad to find part of the lounge has been designated as non-smoking. Ever since Arkell's bought the pub back in 1877, The Talbot has prided itself on its genuinely warm welcome, but it is also popular with local people for whom the pub is at the centre of the community. The Talbot even plays host to a sea angling club!
