The village of Fen Ditton has an unmistakeably rural despite being only a ten minute drive from Cambridge city centre. The Plough has always brought the small community together, even back in the 18th Century when it was used extensively for village meetings and Court Sessions. In 1929 the first Cambridge aerodrome, referred to as Fen Ditton aerodrome, opened on land purchased by David Marshall behind the family home at Whitehill. Following the formation of Marshall's Flying School Limited in the 1930, his son, Sir Arthur Marshall trained many pilots, among whom were several who would later play a vital role in the aircraft industry. Guests at The Plough will be able to browse a menu of freshly prepared classic pub dishes such as sausages and mash, fresh fish and a homemade Pie of the Day. There is also an extensive wine selection to complement the menu. The Plough is a stylish country pub with a nautical theme, based on the May Bumps, an annual boating event dating back at least 150 years, whereby the colleges of Cambridge compete against one another. Features include a beautifully designed decking area, overlooking the vast garden which leads down to the River Cam- the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the odd drink or two. Guests will get great, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere.
