Not a pleasant or friendly atmosphere in this pub. Food a bit limited and uninspiring. Its a shame as its a lovely area and pretty village, but not village pub environment in this place. Staff do not live up to its name!!![Report for Removal] jean

After reading the other reviews for the three merry lads on this site I was worried to say the least when I was invited for a birthday meal,however i can say that I was more than pleasantly surprised I found the food to be excellent with a wide choice on the menu and options for gluten free and vegetarian (although there could be a few more of these).We visited on a Sunday and they were very busy,the two ladies serving were running round with a lot to do however still gave excellent customer service with all customers I saw receiving individual attention,I could over hear comments from fellow customers and all reviews were good with plenty of full satisfied eaters.All our meals were delicous and arrived well within time and served piping hot on warmed plates.Also a great range of real ales only wish would be that I hadnt been driving and could have sampled some more.[Report for Removal] William

Had a meal in March, 2008 which was "ok." Despite the recent reviews tried it again for my mother's 87th birthday. Although the eating area was almost empty, service was appalling (we were kept waiting for about 45 minues) and the food was a disaster. Overcooked lasagne, thick gelatinous gravy served with a steak ciabatta, fat lads burgers - ugh! Coffee - awful. Never again [Report for Removal] Jacquie

We had Sunday lunch at he Three Merry Lads it was RUBBISH nothing tasted right meat was tough and cold, roast potatoes FRIED not roasted, veg tasted awful.Did'nt bother to stay for sweet.A complete waste of money[Report for Removal] irene bradford

My husband & I go out regularly for Sunday lunch,quite often this is in the Derbyshire Dales area as we enjoy the countryside.Having passed The Three Merry Lads recently we decided to give it a try-BIG MISTAKE!We should have been warned off by the starters-brie in filo pastry-the pastry was barely cooked & the brie still cold.For main course we chose lamb which was tough & tasteless,the veg had "twang",the roast potatoes appeared to have been deep fried and the gravy was both watery and greasy.A dreadful meal and a complete waste of £25![Report for Removal] g.harris
