|I visited the Ship Inn in Trefin, North Pembroke with my wife and her family with high hopes from the promise of 'Good Food' on the sign outside. However, we were all to be disappointed. We went on a Saturday night but it was at the end of the summer season so was not what you would call busy by any means. We ordered our food at 7.30pm. I went for the Half Chicken with chips with a side of onion rings, a simple enough meal. Between the rest of us we ordered 3 portions of garlic bread as starter, a beef lasange, scampi and 2 'specials' of which there was only one and this was a chicken and ham pie. So 5 meals in total. Fifty minutes later the garlic bread arrived not excellent by any means a bit dry and not much garlic at all, however it was passable possibly more because we were so hungry. Just over an hour after our order the main meals arrived. My half chicken looked like it needed a good holiday it was that pale and when i delved deeper inside i found it to be cold and raw. To me that is inexcusably bad food preparation and for such food to be sent out from the kitchen and arrive at a customers table in the state it was shows a real lack of experience and care. This was bad enough but the scampi was also tasteless and over cooked, the chicken and ham pies were dry and the onion rings and scampi betrayed a need for the oil in the fryers to be changed due to their tastelessness. The manager was only informed by a member of our party that we sent the chicken back, not her own staff. I was offered something else but did not trust anything to come out of the kitchen and anyway had lost all appetite. The manager did apologise but we felt this was rather weak and should more should have been done to improve the situation and our disappointmen as uncooked chicken can be very dangerous. I would not recommend the Ship Inn to my worst enemy as I am not that cruel. Avoid if you really do want good food and good service because you will not find it here. [Report for Removal]||Paul Wyatt
